Donate to the research and
SAVE MORE LIVES.

Just £33.91 could pay for one hour of research to help improve survival rates and lower the chance of disability for thousands of future patients.

£271.30 would pay for a clinical researcher to complete a full day of research.

£1,356.50 would fund an entire week of research on the team’s new project.

The NKMT Climb for Change team at the starting point

On Saturday 13th September an amazing team of 14 participants took part in NKMT's first Climb for Change challenge; setting out to climb Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England, and raise vital funds for brain haemorrhage research.

The route was no easy walk. Stretching over 21 kilometres, the route consisted of steep climbs, tricky scrambling sections and tough conditions that brought rain, hail and strong winds. There was laughter, moments of exhaustion and even a few tears. But determined by their mission to achieve this challenge and raise vital funds to support ground breaking research at the University of Manchester, every single one of the team made it to the summit.

More than just a mountain

For everyone involved, Climb for Change was about far more than reaching the top.

Each participant had their own reason for being there. Some climbed in memory of loved ones, some climbed because they believe in a future where brain haemorrhages can be prevented, and some simply wanted to be part of something that could make a real difference.

Those reasons are what carried the team through when it got really tough. The climb became a journey of resilience, community and hope, proving that when people come together for a cause they care about, amazing things can be achieved.

The impact of fundraising

Thanks to the dedication of our team and the generosity of all their supporters, the Climb for Change challenge has raised an incredible £5,210.75. This is enough to fund 3.8 weeks of brain haemorrhage research at the Geoffrey Jefferson Brain Research Centre in Manchester.

This research is life changing. Brain haemorrhages are one of the deadliest types of stroke and they can happen suddenly and without warning.

Every £33 raised funds an hour of research. That is an hour spent analysing data, testing new ideas and moving us closer to new treatments that will save lives.

With a little more fundraising support from our climbers and their communities, Climb for Change could extend this total to cover 5 full weeks of research.

Imagine what an extra week of discoveries, tests and breakthroughs could mean for families who may one day be spared the devastation of a brain haemorrhage.

We are so proud of our Climb for Change team. Thank you to our participants for showing such courage and strength - even when they were soaked from head to toe!. And thank you to everyone who donated, sent messages of encouragement or cheered us on from afar. We felt your support on every step of that mountain.

Climb for Change showed us that when people come together incredible things happen. It was a day of challenge, yes, but more importantly it was a day of hope and purpose.

The journey does not end here. With your continued support we can fund even more research and bring hope to even more families.

Help us reach 5 weeks of research

We are so close to reaching our extended goal. Every single donation, no matter the amount, makes a difference and helps us continue the fight to prevent brain haemorrhages.
