“I chose to volunteer as I am passionate about health education and preventative care in medicine, especially in cardiovascular health. A lot of people are unaware of the serious health risks associated with high blood pressure, including brain haemorrhages, and since there are often no symptoms of high blood pressure, raising awareness about the importance of checking it often is vital. By volunteering, I wanted to contribute to a cause that could save lives, both young and old, and empower individuals with the knowledge to measure their blood pressure and control it.
Volunteering with the NKMT was an educational and fulfilling experience and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful cause. It was inspirational to see Fiona turn the tragic loss of her sister into a positive movement, dedicating herself to preventing further such events through the NKMT.”

" The opportunity to volunteer was offered to me by a friend. Not only was it a way to improve my conversational skills with the public ( I am a student doctor ), but it was a great opportunity to raise awareness for brain haemorrhages. Hypertension is unfortunately very common, and some people are unaware of how dangerous this can be- and how it may contribute to having a brain haemorrhage."

" Volunteering for NKMT during Hypertension Awareness Month was an incredibly rewarding experience . We really wanted to support a local cause with a personal story. We helped out at a local event where we educated people about the link between blood pressure and brain haemorrhages whilst the team were busy offering free blood pressure checks. The NKMT team was so welcoming and supportive, and I felt truly valued as a volunteer! Can't wait to see what comes next for NKMT and their efforts."
